Summary of the story
I’ve been waiting over 2 years for this cinematic masterpiece to finally hit theaters as a live-action Deadpool sequel, and it’s easier to destroy my expectations than a single shot. To clarify this belief in my case, I myself saw the film for the first time at Reading Cinemas Town Square on Tuesday, July 30, 2024 at 6:15 PM. Everything about this film is amazing, be it the plot (SPOILER-FREE CRITIQUE) the few cameos, the return (the biggest of which is Wolvercuted and the way it lives. As for Hugh Jackman’s portrayal of the character, well done). The new characters are absolutely amazing for all that it ends up being a show of greatness and cabaret no less. And also, sorry to the 20th Century FOX universe that will be forever changed (up to the knees, even with Blue Sky Studios), you will be duly honored for your years of nostalgia (if someone might not have done so for you). The cinematography is emotionally balanced and important for the tone of seriousness with violence and humor that left me leaving even for the third time in a long time (forever) the star-studded cast for prom thespians (especially for Ryan Reynolds and the famous Hugh Jackman as the main characters). As for the main antagonists, I'm not too bothered and am annoyed by one of the antagonists, Cassandra Nova (but it's not so much created by Paradox, which I thought was another variation of Mobius, but I'm very wrong on that particular point). The heavy emotions are executed beautifully, as are the minimal choreographed fight scenes with a collection of different characters from the past (not saying who in particular, but good things come to those who wait, even if it's not all in one place at once ;) referring to another mixed 2022 movie). And did I forget to consciously mention the costume designs for not only Deadpool but also Wolverine, which are a nice homage to the glorious late 30s comic books. It's satisfying and confusing for how well it's approached in this film, without being completely ostentatious or embellished. The music and soundtrack are so great that I almost forgot to mention Deadpool's previous prequel (I'll refrain from revealing it), and hopefully maybe Deadpool won't just be Marvel Jesus and change the course of the MCU Phase 4 and beyond. Can't wait for more in store that's in the works. Overall, this pure awesomeness is more than a little surprising to say the least, and may even surpass its prequel expectations by a significant margin. This for me gets a 9.9/10, no more, no less.
